This genre of dance is rooted in a diverse history of Broadway musicals. It heavily uses skills from ballet, tap, and jazz. There is a high focus on musical interpretation and acting. There is often spoken dialogue and characters who combine acting, singing, and dancing to present a fully-realized story as a performance.
