What is Modern Dance?

Modern Dance is a creation of movements that connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements, while focusing on self-expression. This style uses abstract motions to portray ideas, feelings, and emotions.

Requirements

Shoes:

• Recreational: Foot undies (Can be ordered at the front desk)
• Competition: Foot undies (Can be ordered at the front desk)

Dancewear: 

• Black leotard (available in the lobby or for purchase at the front desk)
• Tan tights (can be purchased in the lobby)
• ​Dance pants/booty shorts
• Hair must be pulled back out of the dancer's face (bun or ponytail)

Boys 

Shoes: 

• Foot undies (Can be ordered at the front desk)​

Dancewear:

• Recreational:
• Boys should wear athletic shorts or pants (no sweatpants).
• T-shirt
  
• Competition:
• Athletic shorts or pants
• Black or white T-shirt​

Dress Code Policy

A2J has strict guidelines with regards to shoes and attire permitted at each level in the classroom. Consult the A2J Crew Handbook for guidelines or contact the studio with any specific questions. We have a team store where shoes and dance attire can be purchased.
