It is a genre of dance that embodies aspects of ballet, jazz, acrobatics, and modern dance. This style is danced faster than ballet but not as fast as jazz. It challenges students to to use motion to interpret music and express motion. It is very similar to contemporary too.
Requirements
LEVEL 1 BALLET AND UP+ Shoes:
Recreational: Tan jazz shoes (to be purchased at the front desk)
Competition: Tan jazz shoes (to be purchased at the front desk)
Dancewear:
Black leotard (available in the lobby or for purchase at the front desk)
Pink tights (can be purchased in the lobby or our team store)
Black practice skirt/Black booty shorts (optional)
Hair must be pulled back out of the dancer's face (bun or ponytail)
Class Levels:
Level 1(Ages 5-8)
Level 2 (Ages 9-11) (Permission Only)
Level 3 (Ages 12+)(Permission Only)
Boys
Shoes:
Black ballet shoes (Available for order at the front desk)

Plain black gym shorts
Plain black cut-off t-shirt (acceptable for the boys "once a week" ballet classes)
Competition:
Black men's tights
White crew neck, form fitted t-shirt
Dress Code Policy
A2J has strict guidelines with regards to shoes and attire permitted at each level in the classroom. Consult the A2J Crew Handbook for guidelines or contact the studio with any specific questions. We have a team store where shoes and dance attire can be purchased.
